15th Annual Chili Cookoff & Beer Tasting

The Grand Central Chili Cook-Off is the District’s longest-running event and serves as a fundraiser for the GCDA, a 501c3 non-profit organization.
The event will take place Noon until 4pm on Saturday, February 23rd, 2019 – rain or shine – along the 2400-2600 blocks of Central Avenue and will include the chili competition with over 40 contestants and beer tastings from our 5 District breweries.
Restaurants, chef’s, businesses, neighborhood associations and individuals enter their favorite chili recipe to participate and compete in multiple categories including best vegetarian, people’s choice, and the best neighborhood chili!
Our nearby neighborhoods will battle for bragging rights with Best Neighborhood Association Chili. Come support and vote for your favorite: Central Oak Park, Palmetto Park, North Kenwood, and Historic Kenwood.
There is no charge for entering the competition. A minimum of 4 gallons of chili is recommended.
There is a $20 charge for electric (if needed). Availability is limited.
There is a $25 fee for a Vendor Space (10ft x 10ft maximum) There is no vendor charge for GCDA members.
Grand Central District Association members or a 501c get a vendor space at no charge.
Proceeds go to improvements in the Grand Central District.

HOME COOK (Amateur) (1st, 2nd, 3rd Place)
Home Cooks, Non-Food Related Businesses
BEST NEIGHBORHOOD CHILI (1 Award)
BEST VEGETARIAN CHILI (Depending on amount of entries)
PEOPLE’S CHOICE CHILI (1 Award)
PEOPLE’S CHOICE CRAFT BEER (1 Award)
There will also be a few fun categories added as well.
And new this year, we will feature our District craft breweries: If I Brewed the World, Avid Brew, Cage Brewing, Arcade Brewery, and Pinellas Ale Works with select tastings of their beers selected/created just for the Cookoff!
And they will be teaming up with local restaurants who will include their beer in a special Beer Chili recipe!
Tickets for unlimited tastings are $20 for Chili
and $25 for Chili + Beer.
Children 12 or under accompanied by a paying adult enter for FREE!
